It's always nice when good news comes out of bad situations. Thanks to the Blues organization and players, that's the case in St. Louis.
After the city was ravaged by tornadoes in the last week, including one that wreaked havoc on the city's airport, the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund has donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross to help in the relief efforts. The team's players decided to follow suit, pitching in their own $10,000.
"Speaking on behalf of the players, our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the storms," Blues forward Andy McDonald said. "St. Louis is our home and watching the damage over the weekend makes us want to help our community in some way."
It adds to what has been a charitable few weeks for the Blues. Cam Janssen announced he would donate $1 for every new follower he had on Twitter during a week span to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of the late Mandi Schwartz. Mandi's brother Jaden was selected by the Blues in the 2010 draft.
