Canucks have no answer for Thomas again

BOSTON ---- Henik Sedin took submissions on how to solve Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas.

“I don’t know, do you have an answer for me?” the Vancouver Canucks captain said after Boston’s 4-0 victory in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday. “He’s playing well right now like [Roberto Luongo] is when he’s hot. When top goalies like him are getting hot, it’s tough to score goals. We need to get a greasy one.”

Canucks forward Alex Burrows may have had that in mind when he attempted to whack Thomas’ stick out of his hand in the third period. Thomas gave Burrows a nice slash in the calf a moment later and a scrum ensued. The Canucks were on the power play for the final 1:51 after that skirmish and still couldn’t get one past Thomas.

“They did it a couple of times on the power play in the first period also,” Thomas said. “I don't know who it was, I was focused on the puck. That was like the third time that he'd hit my butt end on that power play. The game was getting down toward the end, so I thought I'd give him a little love tap and let him know.”

Thomas, whose aggressive tact in net was criticized after the Bruins dropped the first games of the series, is back to being a goaltending savant. He allowed one goal on 79 shots in Game 3-4.

“There's no secret to it,” Thomas said. “Well, I can tell you any success I've had in this series against them is because I've worked extremely hard and that's the way I approach it.”

One thing that the Canucks still seem to have a problem with is how Thomas is able to roam freely outside his crease.

“He definitely plays outside his net,” Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa said. “At some point you are going to have to say if he’s going to come out of his blue paint and bumping into our guys, he should be fair game. It’s a little unfair that he can come out and push us around.”

Canucks have no answer for Thomas again

He is a $#*! disturber but seems to be getting a few 'Nucks off their game.  'Nucks are too good to let his crap ruin their season.  Home ice is huge - I mean that literally as Boston's ice is very poor for a championship series.

"It's a little unfair that he can come out and push us around" this attitude is the reason the Canucks got pasted in Boston,if they are to regain control of the series they have to banish thoughts of this nature.

Canucks have no answer for Thomas again

Rby2zday.... Yeah I don't get involved with ref bashing, and the other crap I read here.... I'm a fan of sport. We've had plenty of scoring opportunities but mr. Thomas is the toughest and most confident player on the ice. I hope for seven games as it would give me an opportunity to attend, but mostly I just hope for a goal, at this point...

JTB finaly an opposing fan that I can embrace, (figuratively not literally I'm not Doyel), one who loves his team but does not let his passion overrule his objectivity. Hats off to you. My only concern is that Luongo goes back to all world form. Hope the Canucks play well just not well enough to win. Over here is Syracuse we still remember our affiliation and still follow some of "our" players.

Beast of a hockey team these bruins are......I love my Canucks and bleed Canuck colours but find myself watching Tim Thomas and what he will do next...... It's an excellent playoff with two contrasting styles winning on their home ice. Bruins players are far too proud to let two games in Vancouver slip away...they apparently were fine. As a Canuck fan and more importantly a hockey fan I applaud the NHL for their suspension of Rome. It was dangerous and clearly career and life threatening. I look forward to game five and it's newest heroes...
