Fight of the Year candidate with perfect prose

While fights are down in the NHL, they are still happening in the AHL. If you're looking for a good scrap, that might be the place to go. After all, you might see a guy snap in the penalty box.

Or you might just see as good a scrap as you'll find all year. This one featuring Steve MacIntyre of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Eric Neilson of the Norfolk Admirals is an early candidate for Fight of the Year.

After watching that, I'm not sure which is the most impressive aspect to me. First off all, there is the flat out beating that MacIntyre lays on Nielson. Equally impressive is Neilson remaining on his feet the entire time and staying in the fight through the bitter end. The guy has guts.

But upon further inspection, I think the best part of it all is the commentating. The play-by-play is more aptly described as prose, it makes one think of boxing's old nickname, the sweet science. Incredibly descriptive.

So what say you; FOY worthy?

Fight of the Year candidate with perfect prose

This announcer's name is Tom Grace and how he isn't announcing in the NHL is a complete mystery.  He has more insight, knowledge and "WOW" factor than any other commentator.  You don't have to watch the game to visualize exactly what is happening on every play.  Tom's a descriptive master of this game!

Fight shmight, this Tom Grace guy needs to be promoted to the National level ASAP.  I could care less about hockey and it's fighting, but I could watch that clip multiple times from Grace's beautiful description of the on-ice events.  He would be great to listen to during a football game, first guy he could replace, Phil Simms.

The announcer is Tom Grace and he is awesome. He is well-known for his exciting goal and fight calls and is very popular with the fans in Wilkes-Barre. His call of the Ryan Vandenbusche (sp?) vs. Dennis Bonvie fight about 5 years ago is legendary. What a fight - rock on Gracie!
