It looks like the insanity of the past 36 hours in hockey is done. Bobby Ryan is off the trade market.

At the introductory press conference for new coach Bruce Boudreau to replace Randy Carlyle, Ducks GM Bob Murray tried to nip all the talk in the bud now.

Asked about the trade rumors circulating around the team, Murray responded "I'm hoping everything settles down right now, and I think it will."

In case Murray's not-straight denial of the rumors ending isn't comforting, Nick Kypreos, the man who reported Boudreau was on his way out in Washington and also that Ryan was on the trade market, reported the Ryan development just before Murray's statement.

"#Ducks GM Bob Murray has assured Bobby Ryan he is off #NHL trading market today. Also told Ryan's desire to be moved is no longer an issue."

With that the Anaheim fans sighed and the rest of the league cursed. I never fully understood why the Ducks would consider shipping Ryan out of town. But it seemed like it before Wednesday and seems much more like after Wednesday that there was some kind of struggling going on between Carlyle and Ryan. I mean a coach telling a player to find inner peace and deal with the rumors, as Carlyle did to Ryan?

How else do you want to interpret being ready to trade a 24-year-old star one minute, firing a coach the next then saying said 24-year-old star is staying. I'm going to use my ability to reason on this one. If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, it must be a duck.

So Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, New York and every other city that was salivating at the idea of trading for Ryan, put your tongues back in your mouths. It seems like this horror show is over.

Why is Lydman and Ryan still on the roster? They need solid D-men in a bad way. Ryan is a franchise player in a slump. Did Murray ask for Boychuk, Ference, or McQuaid?
Since: Jun 25, 2009	Posted on: December 2, 2011 10:31 am Ducks star Bobby Ryan no longer on the market schenn, bobrovsky and some picks!!! get it done holmgren. this is all BS just so teams will more. if not then go get iginla and throw that bum hartnell in the minors so that waste of 4 million is off the books and we can add one of those 2!! we need an elite scorer, especially with pronger going down every other day. maybe we can get pronger to retire so his money can come off our cap too cause he is never on the ice anymore and that 4.5 or more can be very useful............ So you want to trade Schenn, a young and unproven player and your backup goalie and maybe a couple draft picks for Bobby Ryan, a 24 year old excellent power forward that has scored over 30 goals per season the last 3 years in a row? Me too man.... I would make a trade like that in a heart beat but I'd bet big money Anaheim would laugh out loud at that trade offer. As for Pronger, no chance he retires. He still has 2 more seasons after this one making 7 million plus per season and I highly doubt he's going to pass on that money just to help the Flyers out. The Flyers can buy him out if the choose to and that would lower his cap hit, but other then that they're screwed and stuck with Prongers deal. If they buy out his last 3 year's after this one I did the math and I think his cap hit would drop from about 5 to about 2 million per season. As for Hartnell, if they buy him out right now his cap hit drops from about 4 million to about 2 million per season. I know teams are technically allowed to bury contracts in the minors but they almost never do it, and the Flyers aren't going to bury Hartnell's deal anytime soon. I think teams hesitate to do that because it's bad P.R..... how do you convince players to sign long term with your team if they believe you'll bury them in the minors?

Not since than has there been a pl;ayer that is "untouchable". As they if Gretzky could be traded, so can everyone else.

I translate it for you. Think what you want but I have yet to see an NHL GM tell the truth. Once you are tradable you are always tradable.
