Often times more popular than the Super Bowl itself is the extravaganza that has become the commercials. It's the one sporting event that I can think of where people actually have to debate making their bathroom run during the game or at the breaks.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know when I say the last few years the commercials have been lacking.

Well maybe the good ones have been hiding on Canadian television this whole time. Because this ad that Budweiser will run during the big game in Canada is gold, Jerry! Gold!

Seriously, that is one of the cooler things I've ever seen. This is your regular beer-league hockey game and the small rink gets filled with a rabid fan base complete with body paint, thundersticks and banners (including, of course, Budweiser's). The looks on the players' faces is priceless.

I feel obligated to go indulge in some Bud in honor of the excellent ad they have given us. It's like buying CDs nowadays. Sometimes an artist does a song so good that you feel you owe it to them to bypass the iTunes download and go buy the whole CD.

Jeez, the Red Green Show and now this? Those folks in Canada get all the good stuff. I get that hockey isn't all that big in the States, but this commercial is so well done, it would play well in the U.S., I'm sure of that.

But don't despair, America. Your commercials will include Jerry Seinfeld (two Seinfeld references in one post?!) and Ferris Bueller.

H/t to Puck Daddy

It is really ashame that some idiot basketball fan exec at espn decided that americans don't like hockey. What, does he live in stinking California. Try and go to New York, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Philly, or Washington and find more basketball fans then hockey fans. Won't happen. These cities built America and they love hockey. There were 2 million people at the Rangers parade in 1994. I know, I was there. ESPN is great for Football and Baseball, but really, some absolute jackass thinks that america would rather watch girls college basketball than an NHL game? And don't give me any crap about ratings coming from the west coast. Put some Nielson boxes in cities and towns with real americans if you want real ratings.

This is a great commercial and should be broadcast in all hockey towns which includes most of America.

I hope that was said with tongue in cheek when he wrote that us Canadians get all the good commercials during the SuperBowl. Obviosuly he hasn't tuned into our stations during the big game. Ya, we get great new Leon's warehouse ads telling us how cheap their couches are. Oh, can't leave out our Tim Horton's commercials. Stuff is like Crack here. Maybe a Rent-a-centre ad will do. Point is, we get the ads after the game online. I will say, that was an Awesome Bud spot.
